What is Xeomin? Xeomin is a neuromodulator that reduces the appearance of wrinkles and lines in the face. It is a type of botulinum toxin A that is the same active ingredient used in Botox and Dysport, but is in a purified form, and will not develop antibodies to the added proteins that Botox has.
What does Xeomin do? It temporarily paralyzes the muscles that cause wrinkles. When injected into specific muscles, Xeomin blocks the release of acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter that signals muscles to contract. By inhibiting muscle contractions, Xeomin smooths out wrinkles and reduces facial lines.
How long does it last? The effects of Xeomin begin 24-72 hours after injection and peak at about 4-6 weeks. The effects last 3+ months.
How many units do I need? The number of units is determined initially with a consult by the injector. Unit ranges also depend on the treatment area.
